Established in 1971 Green Pond
Fire Department made a commitment to this community to provide
emergency and non-emergency. Much has changed in the 41 years since our
inception but that commitment to those we serve has not. We look
forward to conquering the many challenges of providing the best service
possible.
MISSION STATEMENT
Green
Pond Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is dedicated to providing public
safety services to our citizens that result in improved quality of life
and peace of mind. As a team, we will strive to minimize losses and
suffering through emergency service delivery, public information, and
community service activities. We will provide our service and treat
those we serve in a manner that is honest, fair, and unbiased. We will
honor our heritage, actively participate in our community, and serve
with integrity. We will strive to support individual development,
personal satisfaction, and pride of all members. We will strive to
uphold the unique camaraderie and trust that is the Fire
Service.
In
order to fulfill our mission statement, we operate from three stations,
with 40 combination members, three pumpers, one ALS unit, two BLS
units, one brush truck, and one tender. We cover approximately 100
square miles, responding to an average of 1100 runs per year in North
Bibb, East Tuscaloosa, and West Shelby counties. In addition to
responding on various fires, medical, vehicle crashes, rescue, and
hazardous materials we also provide public services to various agencies
and groups in our community. These include BLS and extrication support
to Holliday Beach Race Track, Public Education to Woodstock Elementary
School, ALS and BLS support for events at Tannehill State Park, and so
much more.
Latest News
We are excited about two
grants that we have received this year. As the cost of equipment rises
in tough economic times we are thankful to be able to purchase much
needed equipment thanks to The Alabama Forestry Commission and FEMA.
These grants will allow us to purchase new wild land firefighting
equipment and new extrication equipment respectively. Please check back
on our website for further information as well as pictures and details
of the new equipment.
Pardon our progress as we
update our website.-GPFD
